Has nobody realised yet that the reason so many people are staying out, is because they don’t care? Many don’t care if they die. Many are more actively than that, hoping if kill enough off, the economy will be kick-started. Happy to sacrifice themselves, too! If they get sick, they get sick. If they die, they die. If other people die, they die. Win win.
Enough people seem that disheartened with society. The underclass with their criminal battles against society rules. The non working class with no prospects, no livable income, no way out, the gap widened as we don’t seem to realise we need to educate these people and find a use for them.
The squeezed middle, with cars and kids and ideals of fresh air but realities of tube smog. The squeezed middle are punished daily for just existing. Anything to make this change is what is keeping these people going to work, walking about, buying up supplies so that if and when they get sick, they are well looked after.
Schools are videod singing and dancing for care homes and nursing homes. Two in my general area. At both of these, the general consensus is they aren’t singing just to make them feel less lonely. They’re singing farewell. Goodbye. People are kissing goodbye and hoping a new society is with the sacrifice.
Because it will be a new society. After Brexit and now a virus. Our world is changing from the world of our parents and grandparents. I can see the change across my own lifetime as well. Faster than any change across a young person’s lifetime before. This is time for change.
Both my partner and I are quietly sitting he hoping we get through. Both of us are high risk and both of us are unwell in general and self isolating is something we really only started to take seriously when forced to. We tried to practice social distancing, but being away from people was difficult to control when people stood right next to you or sneezed right in front of your face. Now we are limiting ourselves for our own reasons.
We also privately are excited for the change it could bring. Life has been chaotic for us both, a little more Chaos won’t hurt. We’re seasoned at this now. We just hope we get through it together.
