A moment of humanity

The school I’m currently working in (which I love by the way), is right on a main road. I mean right on it. The playground barriers are 2 foot from trucks and cars going past at a steady 40 even though it’s a highlighted 20 limit during school hours. Shouldn’t complain, the village is probably only still functioning because of its easy access to both Edinburgh and Glasgow from the road that turns into a 60mph limit, 300 yards down from the school.

The truckers that frequent this area; toot their horns or noise makers or turn their music up as they go past. All in good faith! All with healthy doses of waves and cheers from adults who take time to partake. The children love it. They run screaming and shouting to the wall. They create dances and posters to display to passing traffic. They create hand signals and race each other from one end of the playground to the other hoping to beat the truck.

It’s just nice to see people being nice to children. And children enjoying such a simple pleasure.
