Banter

Have you ever wondered why some people moan that you don’t have banter?

I appear to have found a reason.

Some people were never taught how to constructively criticise or explain things to others. They live in a world where people either get things or they don’t, a fixed mindset that anybody who works with children will know is a detrimental attitude to progress and understanding on any level.

If you don’t get their world, they throw out insulting “banter” to guide you to right. They neither teach, nor explain. Yet exhibit offense and displeasure when you aren’t able to perform or conform to their expectations. Expectations that they don’t give any guidance on. It’s the same as blindly throwing a bowling ball down a bowling alley, expecting the side bars that you keep you right on the way down, then wonder why the person keeps making the same mistake again.

I forget not everyone understands how others work. I forget not everyone is very accommodating when faced with new faces or people from different worlds or cultures. I forget that, many people resort to blind ignorance and hostility to cope with people who don’t think like them.

You know what it really means when a guy says he’s looking for a girl with a bit of banter about herself? It means he’s got no patience and no ability to explain himself so you better get used to berating insults as a guidance format or find yourself frustrated with every. Thing. They. Do.
