Balloting for funds

why cant we ballot funds for crimes or research or council spending? like we get to choose what our taxes go on. The money offered is down to public balloting rather than business politics.

Say the bus company want their route to be updated or want to train drivers in something new; give it a number, stick it on an app somewhere, with an expected cost goal, let people choose to put tjeir tax tokens in that box. At the end of the week or month, the money is drawn and used. If funds go over, work stops until more public funds go in. Costs would be kept down on things the public don’t see as necessary and communities will strengthen as we work together to make our community a better place through choices of the many, not the few people whose job it is, as is currently the case.

It would be an active part of being an adult, young people would learn about it at school and businesses could work it into their schedule – life admin time is as important as team building these days.

You decided how much money you sent to crimes that needed investigating or put to trial. How much money you sent to different parts of the NHS , research or active practice.

Yes of course that would mean that those who were educated in matters, would be frustratingly led by public choices. Which is fine, because community word of mouth and communication methods are already in place for sharing facts and educating people on their choices. Someone is already paid to manage a Facebook page or Twitter feed, this will become a slightly higher paid gig is all.

We would all be a bit smarter. A family member could be assigned or asked to do it. If you didn’t, the powers that be would be free to do as they please with your taxes.

Citizens advice would offer help with it and job centres so the costs of initiating such a system would be minimal. The money being saved from over spending on projects through shoddy management, would be spread across administering the system. People would be more satisfied. The country would feel more in control.

Just a thought.
